Principal’s Message

Kia ora whānau,

What an action-packed term so far!

Our calendar is bursting with fantastic opportunities for our students—spanning sports, the arts, academic challenges, and community events.

Thank you to our amazing staff and school community for bringing these experiences to life and your efforts in particpaing in our Maths open morning and parade!

Regards, Devika & the TPS team

We are excited to have the offer of  Life Education Van who will come to Takapuna Primary during the last 2 weeks of Term 3.

There is a cost to the school for this extra opportunity and we would really appreciate a contribution of $10 per child (families with more than 1 child, $10 be per family will be added to eldest child). This has been updated on your Hero account.

Thank you very much for to all the families who have helped with the contribution, we’d love to have them booked in!

3 Way conferences – Next Week

On Wednesday 26th August and Thursday 27th August we will be holding 3 Way Conferences.

These meetings will be for 10 minutes and are an opportunity for you to meet with your child’s kaiako to celebrate their progress and discuss possible next steps.

We encourage you to bring your child to this session, but they will not be leading the meeting.

To book your conference time, please go to ‘School Bookings’ on your Hero App (3 Way Conferences). PLEASE ONLY BOOK ONE CONFERENCE ON EITHER WEDNESDAY OR THURSDAY.

*Please be aware that school will close at the usual time on both days.

Keeping Ourselves Safe

Over the coming weeks, our students will be participating in Keeping Ourselves Safe, a child safety programme developed by NZ Police. The programme teaches students essential skills to recognise healthy vs. unhealthy relationships, practise online and face-to-face safety, and know when and how to seek help from trusted adults.

A big thank you to all the families who attended our information session with Constable Murray Fenton! If you would like to learn more about the curriculum or how to support these conversations at home, you can read more here:

Health focus on Nutrition

In Kiwi we have been learning about Nutrition and the different food groups. We have been learning about protein, milk and milk products, grains and fruit and vegetables.

The learners have enjoyed learning where food comes from and identifying which category each food item belongs to. For Art, we made a badge that highlighted a fruit or vegetable. Here are 5C’s healthy food badges.

SCG Quiz Night – Wednesday 2 September

The SCG is excited to invite you to our annual Quiz Night!

Join us on Wednesday 2 September, 7:00pm at the Hauraki Social Club for an evening of fun, laughs, and a little friendly competition.

Tickets are $15.00 per person. Come along with a team, or if you’re coming on your own, we’ll happily match you with a table of other parents.

Tickets are available through Kindo.

Last year’s event was a fantastic night, with everyone having a great time. We’d love to see you there to meet other parents, enjoy a fun evening out, and support our school community.

If you have any questions, please contact us at scg@tps.school.nz.

Get ready for a burst of colour, energy, and excitement…

Something BIG is coming to Takapuna Primary! The SCG is excited to announce the Takapuna Primary School Colour Run on Friday 18 September 2026.

This year’s goal is one our whole community will benefit from: raising funds for much-needed new water fountains for our students. Every donation and every splash of colour helps bring us closer to making it happen.

Every student can make a difference. Check out the promo video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAE52TRDXqM

Every child is encouraged to set up their own Go Raise It fundraising page. It’s quick and easy to register, and students can safely share their page with family and friends to collect online donations and track their progress. You can set up your childs’ account here:  https://takapunacolourrun.raiseit.co.nz/

? PRIZES, PRIZES, PRIZES! ?

There are some fantastic prizes up for grabs, with the main prizes still to be announced! Three awesome main prizes will be awarded to the top 3 classrooms — so every donation could help your class climb the leaderboard. Stay tuned for the big prize reveal!

There are also two chances to win just by getting started:

End of Week 1: Everyone who has signed up to their own fundraising page will go into the draw to win a spot prize!
– End of Week 2: Everyone who has signed up AND received at least one donation will go into the draw for another spot prize!

There will be spot-prize winners randomly drawn each week, so make sure you get your fundraising page set up early!

An info sheet will be sent home on Friday 21st August and there will be more info on Hero to follow.

Let’s fill our school with colour and show what the Takapuna Primary community can achieve together. Sign up, start fundraising, and let’s make this our most colourful fundraiser ever!

Maths Week 2026!

IN THE OFFICE

School Donations

 An investment in our students

Our mission at Takapuna Primary School is to deliver a great quality learning environment that supports a quality education. To support this, we are seeking your help.

Your school donations make a very real difference to us as a state-funded public school. Our basic costs are met by the Ministry of Education, but it’s the money we receive from our school community that really allows us to provide opportunities, equipment and teaching beyond what is funded by the government.

The school donation for 2026 is $260 per student, or $420 for families with two or more students.

We can arrange weekly, fortnightly, or monthly instalments via internet banking if this helps spread the cost. Importantly, donations are tax deductible so approximately one third of every donation can be claimed back as a tax credit. That means for a $260 donation you receive $86 back in your wallet. Your actual donation cost is just $174.

To make your donation payments please go to the ‘Hero’ app and click on ‘Student Billing’. Alternatively, any payments can also be made directly into the school bank account 12 3026 0792484 00 – if doing so, please ensure you include your child’s name and ‘donation’ as reference on the payment.

Any queries regarding payments can be directed to our accounts team: accounts@tps.school.nz

If you would like to know more about how the School Board operates, and/or would be interested in understanding how else you can help, please contact: takapunaboard@tps.school.nz

IMPORTANT

If your child is LATE (after 8:58am), please make sure they sign in at the office upon arriving at school.

If they are RETURNING to school after an appointment offsite, they MUST sign in at the office BEFORE going to their classroom.

REMEMBER……..

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE ALWAYS HAVE CURRENT PARENT CONTACT DETAILS ON FILE.

IT IS ALSO IMPORTANT THAT WE ARE UPDATED IF YOUR CHILD HAS ANY NEW MEDICAL INFORMATION WE NEED TO BE AWARE OF.

If you moved to a new house, changed your mobile phone number or if your child has any NEW medical information we should be aware of, please email office@tps.school.nz

This is the oldest photo we have of students from TPS.

It was taken in 1897.

That is 129 years ago – wow!

We are not sure if this was a photo of the whole school or just the seniors.

  • Enhance current students’ understanding of TPS’s history
  • Offer fundraising opportunities for alumni to invest so TPS can continue its high-quality educational standards
  • Promote TPS’s brand in the community
  • Host alumni events
  • Begin the path towards TPS’s 150th reunion in 2029
  • Create an online archive of TPS class photos, memorabilia etc.
